Bring 'n Buy, Ridgefield’s upscale consignment shop is celebrating fifty years in business! Wow!
Owned by Tina Hassenstein, Bring ‘n Buy, located at 590 Danbury Road, is Ridgefield’s go-to store for “like new” designer apparel and accessories - all offered at reasonable prices. With new inventory hitting the racks daily, Bring ‘n Buy is a shopper's paradise.
Here, we talk with Bring ‘n Buy’s owner and longtime Ridgefield resident Tina Hassenstein about Bring ‘n Buy’s golden jubilee.
Fifty years! Congratulations! Tell me about the inception of your popular consignment shop
The store opened in 1973 by a lovely woman named Carol Shenk and my mom, Patti Murphy bought it about 8 or 9 years after it opened.
Your adored (and oh so classy) mom Patti Murphy, was an employee before purchasing the store in 1982. What was her vision for the store?
My mom’s vision for the store was to sell high-quality items from local households because she was a big recycler and really disliked waste. We used to have a section of household items as well as children’s, women’s and men’s clothing.
When did you join your mom as co-owner?
I started Bring n Buy, Too in 1993 as a partner with my mom. We had a great time together and I learned a lot about the relationships you can develop with customers as well as how to contribute to the community. I always thought the business was just about selling, but I watched my mom and the way she cared for the customers and became part of their lives. I found that facet of the business was fascinating. When my mom died, I was blown away by the support from our customers. I’ll never forget it and am so grateful to the community.
Tell me about your loyal customers and consignors
The customers here are fun and stylish and incredibly loyal.
The store is a place to shop and consign but it’s also an incredibly social place. People mix and mingle in the fitting room and give opinions on fashion. I love the vibe in here, we are always playing great music and laughing.
And, the treasures that await behind the Bring ‘n Buy door?
Some of the great designers we carry are Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Chanel. We sell a variety of designers and not just high-end labels. There is an incredible variety of inventory including cocktail dresses, casual summer dresses, jeans, workout clothing, shoes, and of course, handbags.
Are you celebrating this momentous occasion?
We are going to celebrate this milestone at some point this year. I’m trying to schedule an event when both of my kids and husband are in town, which is proving to be a challenge but we are figuring it out.

Everyone is welcome here, and we love meeting people who are new to the area. We are just grateful to be here after all of this time
