On March 23, 2023, after 26 years of dedicated service to the Ridgefield community, the Ridgefield Police Department is happy to announce the retirement of Lieutenant Shawn Murray (Badge #165).
Lt. Murray began his career with the Ridgefield Police Department in 1997, after previously serving as a Police Officer in Missouri from 1993 to 1997. During his tenure with the department, Lt. Murray served as a Patrol Officer from 1997 to 2019, a Sergeant from 1997 to 2022 and a Lieutenant from 2022 to 2023.
Since 2006, Lt. Murray also served as the department's K-9 Handler. He worked with K-9 Zeus from 2006 to 2015 and K-9 Loki from 2015 to 2023. Lt. Murray was instrumental in reviving our agency's K-9 program, which was disbanded years earlier. With his K-9 partners, Lt. Murray located missing persons, tracked suspects, located evidence and removed illegal drugs from our community.
During his career, Lt. Murray served as a Field Training Officer, received the department's Officer of the Year Award in 2006 and 2016, the Exceptional Service Award in 2016 and was recognized on multiple occasions by (MADD) Mothers Against Drunk Driving, for his enforcement and interdiction efforts.
We would like to thank Lt. Murray for his 26 years of dedicated service to the Ridgefield Police Department and the community. We would also like to thank K-9 Loki for his 8 years of dedicated service to the Ridgefield Police Department and the community.
We wish them well in their future endeavors.
