Ridgefield RTC Viewpoint: Public Policy and Private Enterprise

We are in a political moment with the current Biden Administration, as well as the majority in Congress, and even some state and local governments, which support the growth of government as a philosophy.


There is a belief that the issues facing society require government to intervene and provide the solution. 

However, it is important to remember that private enterprise also plays an important role in solving problems. 

In fact, looking at countless examples across society, the private sector historically has done a better job when it comes to doing the work. 

Some examples include the fields of medicine, education, transportation, manufacturing, distribution, even the distribution of mail, to name just a few. 

This is not to say that public policy serves no role. Quite the contrary, it reflects the beliefs of the majority political party. 

Importantly, marrying the public policy wishes with the effectiveness of private enterprise is the better approach. 

As the State of Connecticut, and even Town of Ridgefield, contemplate spending its respective portion of the Federal largesse, keep in mind that private enterprise likely will provide the better path to doing the work

“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

In spite of our differences, we are all Americans, and in our case also Ridgefielders.

This is how we judge the difference.
