Town of Ridgefield Urges Residents to Be Prepared! Hurricane Season is Underway!

If COVID-19 taught us anything, it is the value of being prepared. And being prepared means having ways to receive accurate and reliable communications. As our town continues to recover, the Ridgefield CERT Public Information Office (PIO) is always looking for ways to keep our community connected.

With hurricane season underway (June1-November 30) here are some ways you can stay updated:

• Sign up for RIDGEFIELD ALERTS, the town’s new communication system that currently supplements CTAlert and will eventually replace it in Ridgefield. Receive all emergency notifications from your own town officials and as an added benefit, you can also opt into any other important community information. If you have a CTAlert account already, you must use a different username for sign up for RIDGEFIELD ALERTS. You can use the same contact information. Need help? Contact ridgefieldpio@gmail.com.

• Neighborhoods: Some neighborhoods or street groupings have banded together through email sharing or private Facebook groups and have designated a point of contact to accept communications from the PIO to share with neighbors in the event of an emergency. If you wish to organize your neighborhood or to find out if your neighborhood has a contact person, please reach out to ridgefieldpio@gmail.com.

• Follow us on Facebook: Ridgefield Emergency Management.

• Know where to get information if there is no power or internet. Information is posted when possible in central locations within town when normal channels break down: (Current list includes: Town Hall, both Fire Stations, Parks & Recreation Center, Valero Gas Station, Shell Gas Station, Nature’s Temptations.)
