Heat and humidity continue today, with cooler conditions expected on Tuesday.

 Scattered thunderstorms are expected ahead and along a slow-moving cold front this afternoon into this evening areawide.

Max Heat Index Monday: Low to mid-90s

* Isolated to Scattered Severe Thunderstorm and Flash Flood Threat this afternoon and evening with a slow-moving cold front passing through the area.

* Highest flash flood threat along I-95 urban corridor and fast reacting small river and stream basins of NE NJ and Lower Hudson Valley.

Impacts:

Damaging Winds (main threat), Large Hail, Isolated Tornado, and Flash Flooding are possible. High Risk of Rip Currents at ocean beaches expected today through this evening.

NWS ALERTS

 Heat Advisory 11 AM until 6 PM today: Will continue for Essex, Hudson, Union, Eastern Bergen, and Eastern Passaic counties in NJ. Expanded the heat advisory to NYC, Southern Westchester, Nassau, and Northwest Suffolk counties in NY.

 High Rip Current Risk continues for the Atlantic facing beaches today through this evening. FORECAST CHALLENGES  Clouds and showers could inhibit maximum temperatures during peak heating of the day today.
