Letter: Aimee Berger-Girvalo Gains Education, Social Services Endorsements

State Representative Aimee Berger-Girvalo, who is seeking reelection in the 111th State House District in Ridgefield, has received the endorsement of the Connecticut Education Association (CEA) and the National Association of Social Workers.

Berger-Girvalo, who was first elected in 2020, worked during her first term to establish a new reimbursement grant to assist schools in upgrading their HVAC systems and gained $400,000 for Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant playgrounds at Ridgefield elementary schools. She also successfully sought and secured grants for schools to hire more support staff, including those in the areas of mental health, social services, psychologists and counselors.

“A significant focus of my work in the state legislature has been on supporting the needs of kids, making meaningful investments in childcare and getting schools the resources they need to succeed,” Berger-Girvalo said.

In the area of mental health, Berger-Girvalo worked to expand 24-hour emergency response and training for parents, students and pediatricians. She also helped create a new healthcare advocate position that aids families navigating care for children and adolescents.

To support local childcare facilities, Berger-Girvalo helped secure funding for renovation costs and a state tax credit for childcare.
