The Queen of Percussion, Grammy nominated Sheila E. will wow at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Sunday, June 1

Sheila E. is called The Queen of Percussion for good reason. Not only was she hand-picked by Prince to be in his band and record on the Purple Rain album, where she lent vocals to "Let's Go Crazy" and "Erotic City", but on her own, she is a Grammy nominated R&B and jazz-fusion percussionist, drummer and singer/songwriter. This multi-talented artist will be in concert at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Sunday, June 1, at 8 p.m. performing from her songbook including "The Glamorous Life", "A Love Bizarre" and the "We Are the World" session. Her latest record Icon features catchy hooks plus dynamic percussive performances and collaboration with Prince. Special guest is Starnes & Shah, a New York band with a passion for heartfelt acoustic folk-rock. A No. 109 Cheese & Wine complimentary wine and cheese tasting will take place in the lobby at 7:15 p.m. Bissell House (378 Main St., Ridgefield) will pour a free glass of house wine or draught beer with dinner the night of this show when tickets/stubs are presented. An AllShows.com VIP Party Pass ($25 addt'l per person), which includes a pre-show Meet & Greet with Sheila E. and cocktail party from 6:30 – 7:15 p.m. with open bar, hors-d'oeuvre and priority parking, is available for this show by calling the box office (203-438-5795).

Sheila E. has recorded and toured with legendary artists including Natalie Cole, Babyface, Gloria Estefan, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Nicks and Cyndi Lauper. Sheila E. was the featured drummer three times for Ringo Starr's All-Star Band tour. Her Playhouse show is poised to sizzle and is part of the Xfinity Rock Series with media sponsor 94.3fm WYBC.

For tickets ($60), call or visit the box office at 203-438-5795, or order online at ridgefieldplayhouse.org. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT.
