Ridgefield Playhouse brings your favorite films to the big screen

The Ridgefield Playhouse is bringing your favorite classic movies back to the big screen!

I'm gonna make you an offer you can't refuse... come see The Godfather on Wednesday, June 7 at 7pm!  Relive the 70s with Marlon Brando in his Oscar-winning role as the patriarch of the Corleone family and Al Pacino, James Cann and Robert Duvall in their breakout roles.  The film won three Academy Awards in 1972 and is still as incredible as ever- especially on a 20 foot screen!

Turn a boring Wednesday into a fiery night out with the 1959 classic Some Like it Hot on Wednesday, June 14 at 7pm!  In the film, two down on their luck jazz musicians (Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon) find themselves out of a job and on the run after the police raid the speakeasy they perform in and they inadvertently stumble upon a gang war. With no money and nowhere to hide, they join an all-female band.  The only problem is that Joe and Jerry aren’t women – yet. Armed with some dodgy wigs and wobbly falsettos, Joe and Jerry join the band where they meet Sugar Kane (Marilyn Monroe), a hooch-swilling, ukulele-playing knockout with a soft spot for bad boy saxophone players. Barely able to believe their good fortune, things start to go off the rails for the pair when they begin to attract unwanted attention from lecherous millionaires and some familiar faces show up at their hotel for a gathering of the country’s most dangerous criminals.  This movie is non-stop fun from start to finish and stars some of America's greatest actors!  Don't miss this chance to see it the way it was meant to be seen- on the big screen!

Get ready for some fast times at Ridgefield Playhouse with a special 35th anniversary screening of Fast Times at Ridgemont High on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at 7pm!  Return to the film that defined the bold teen comedy genre of the 80s.  Follow a group of Southern California high school students as they explore their most important subjects: sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll. Directed by Amy Heckerling (Clueless) and written by Cameron Crowe (Almost Famous), this hilarious portrait of 1980s American teen life features film debuts of future stars Nicolas Cage and Forest Whitaker, plus decade-defining music from The Go-Go’s, Oingo Boingo and The Cars.  It's a night of nostalgia and fun you don't want to miss!

All of these special screenings are part of the Cohen and Wolf, P.C. Fathom Events Presents & Movies Series.  This is a one-time opportunity to see these classic films with a real movie theater experience!  Tickets are only $12.50 and you can get them online at ridgefieldplayhouse.org or by calling the box office at (203)438-5795.
