Brubeck Brothers Quartet returns to The Ridgefield Playhouse on March 23

Brubeck Brothers Quartet, featuring two sons of legendary jazz pianist and composer Dave Brubeck, returns to The Ridgefield Playhouse on March 23rd

The Brubeck Brothers Quartet continues the legendary Brubeck name with their exciting jazz group featuring two of Dave Brubeck’s sons, Dan Brubeck (drums) and Chris Brubeck (bass & trombone).  Guitarist Mike DeMicco, and pianist Chuck Lamb complete this dynamic quartet.

An award-winning composer, Chris Brubeck has been called “…a 21st Century Leonard Bernstein” by the Chicago Tribune. Dan Brubeck was featured on nearly a dozen albums with his father and toured widely with the Dave Brubeck Quartet, including many appearances with the world’s leading orchestras. A stylistically versatile musician, he’s toured with acts ranging from The Band and David Benoit to Gerry Mulligan and Paul Desmond. Dave Brubeck lived in Wilton, CT right up until his death in 2012, his wife, jazz lyricist Iola Brubeck, continued to live in Wilton until she passed away in 2014 at the age of 90.

Come celebrate the family’s amazing jazz heritage when the Brubeck Brothers Quartet returns to The Ridgefield Playhouse on Friday, March 23rd at 8 pm, part of the Moffly Media Art, Wine & Jazz Series. Be sure to arrive early for a wine tasting and art exhibit featuring the work of photographer Michael Graham in the lobby starting at 7:15 pm. Make it a great night out with dinner and a show, visit GALLO (5 Grove St • Ridgefield) for dinner before the show and get a free glass of house wine with your entrée when you present your tickets! Media sponsor for this evening of jazz is WPKN, the Real Alternative.

Although the Brubeck Brothers’ style is rooted in “straight-ahead” jazz, their concerts reveal an inherent ability to explore and play odd time signatures while naturally integrating the influences of funk, blues, and world music. The group’s creativity, technique and improvisation can be heard in their uncompromising music, which reflects their dedication to the melody, rhythm, culture and the spontaneous spirit of jazz.

Photographer Michael Graham lives in South Salem, NY. His current collection consists of images that capture New York City life in the form of water reflections. Graham is obsessed with light, especially how it works in reflections. While he could make beautiful landscape or architectural reflections, he strongly prefers to capture signs of human life. Don’t miss a chance to view the work of this artist on the rise!

For tickets ($37.50) call or visit the box office, 203-438-5795 or go online at ridgefieldplayhouse.org.  The Ridgefield Playhouse is a non-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT.
