Universe, Themed Member Show and the 7th Annual Juried RHS Show Come to the Guild

Ridgefield Guild of Artists presents its annual themed member show, Universe, in the main gallery, opening Saturday, March 17 with a reception from 4-6pm (snowdate: Sunday, March 18, 4-6pm).  It is free and open to all. “We look forward to our artists giving us a peek into their universe with this show,” says Mary Pat Devine, President of the Guild. “The theme is broad and designed to be no-pressure…just fun.” Members Michelle Brewster and Bonnie Figgatt are Co-Chairs.

Every year, the Guild offers a themed show for its members to exhibit without the jurying process. They can take the theme and run with it. “It’s always a great show.”

During the exhibition, the Guild will offer the next installment of their popular Walk & Talk series on Sunday, March 25 at 3pm, when four artists from the show will speak about their artwork and art-making process. Also, an Artists’ Salon is planned for Friday, April 6, 7-9pm for informal discussion about the exhibit and art in general. Both events are free and open to all.

The 7th Annual Juried Ridgefield High School Exhibition opens on March 17, as well, in the upstairs gallery with a reception from 4-6pm. Sophomores and Juniors were invited to submit work for the show and Guild Board Members Cindi Mullins and Chris Perry juried the entries. Seventeen student artists will exhibit their artwork. “In keeping with our mission to engage our community in the arts,” says Cindi Mullins, “we have a wonderful selection of pieces including photography, painting, drawing, collage and sculpture to display from the RHS students. It gives the students a taste of the exhibition process and our community the chance to see their creativity.”

Both shows run from March 17 – April 15. Ridgefield Guild of Artists is located at 34 Halpin Lane.  Regular gallery hours are Wednesday – Sunday, 12-4pm. For more information, visit www.rgoa.org or call 203.438.8863.
