Two Guys and a Gal art show opening April 6 at Keeler Tavern

"Two Guys and a Gal," an art show featuring the artwork of local Ridgefield artists Bil Mikulewicz, Norman Green, and Marilyn Gordon will open with a reception at Keeler Tavern Museum and History Center's Cass Gilbert Carriage Barn on Friday, April 6, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

The show will run from Saturday, April 7 through Sunday, April 15. Show hours are 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily. Admission is free. A portion of the artist’s sales will go towards the ongoing restoration of the historic Carriage Barn, which was designed and built by renowned architect Cass Gilbert in 1910.

Mr. Mikulewicz began his career as a theatrical scenic designer in Broadway, Off-Broadway, and regional theater before moving into television design. Throughout his career, Mr. Mikulewicz designed for newsrooms, talk shows, sports events, including scenic design for the WWF, and for every soap opera on the East Coast produced by CBS and ABC. After decades of imaging background environments, Mr. Mickulwicz has found great pleasure in creating pictures of people, things and places that are the focus, rather than the background.

Mr. Green has found a reverence and endless fascination for nature, especially flowers and creatures of all varieties. For the last decade, he has focused on floral watercolors, exploring shape, texture, color and light. Working from close-up photos of live flowers, Mr. Green captures an intimate point of view and tries to transfer the essence of the outdoors to his paintings. Many of his works are pure watercolor, but Mr. Green also uses colored ink, applied with a dip pen, to accentuate and detail images. Having long admired the look and detail of etchings, this pen and ink technique allows him to capture the surface texture found in etchings.

Ms. Gordon began taking classes in Chinese brush painting while living in Southeast Asia and fell in love with the beauty and delicacy of the style. After retiring from a career as a social worker and family therapist, Ms. Gordon was able to pursue her love of art, working in watercolor, colored pencil, and graphite and ink. She is currently a member of the Ridgefield Guild of Artists, Richter Arts Center, and the Oriental Brush Painting Guild.
