This Friday: Come celebrate the Jazz heritage of Wilton’s own Brubeck family with the Brubeck Brothers Quartet, performing at The Ridgefield Playhouse on March 23rd

“The Brubeck Brothers Quartet attains that rarefied level where music is both relaxed and expressive, and their joy in its creation is contagious. There’s really nothing out there that comes close to their unique brand of inventiveness.” – All About Jazz. Chris and Dan Brubeck have been making music together practically all their lives. Drummer Dan and bassist, trombonist, and composer Chris cut their first record together in 1966—nearly a half century ago. They’ve subsequently played a variety of styles in a number of different groups, as well as with their father, jazz giant Dave Brubeck (who lived in Wilton up until he passed away in 2012), and with their own Brubeck Brothers Quartet. With Dan and Chris as the foundation, guitarist Mike DeMicco and pianist Chuck Lamb complete this dynamic quartet and carry on the legendary Brubeck name. Come celebrate the Brubeck family Jazz heritage when the Brubeck Brothers Quartet plays at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Friday, March 23rd at 8 pm, part of the Moffly Media Art, Wine & Jazz Series. Grammy Award-nominated rock, blues, jazz and pop guitarist Gil Parris will open the show. Be sure to arrive early for a wine tasting by Vinkara Wines and art exhibit in the lobby by photographer Michael Graham starting at 7:15 pm. Make it a great night out with dinner and a show, visit GALLO (5 Grove St • Ridgefield) for dinner before the show and get a free glass of house wine with your entrée when you present your tickets!

Although the Brubeck Brothers Quartet’s style is rooted in “straight-ahead” jazz, their concerts reveal an inherent ability to explore and play odd time signatures, while naturally integrating the influences of funk, blues, and world music. The group’s creativity, technique and improvisation can be heard in their uncompromising music, which reflects their dedication to the melody, rhythm, culture and the spontaneous spirit of jazz.

South Salem resident and photographer, Michael Graham captures images of New York City life in the form of water reflections. Graham prefers to invert his work for display so the puddle reflection is at the top of the frame. This dramatically changes the look of the shot and directs the viewer to see the image in a way the brain isn’t used to. His striking work will be on view in the lobby for this performance

For tickets ($37.50) call or visit the box office, 203-438-5795 or go online at ridgefieldplayhouse.org. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a non-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT.
