Book Signing, Wine Tasting (Cheese Too) at 109 Cheese and Wine!

Sophistication Is Overrated, The Slageter sisters at 109 Cheese and Wine tomorrow, Friday, April 27 from 5 to 7pm.

Leave your preconceptions at the door: this is a coffee table book with a twist. In Sophistication Is Overrated, you'll find delicious recipes as well as tips and tricks for truly unforgettable, and ridiculous, entertaining. Written by Babs Horner, a gourmet caterer, and her sister Susan Palma, an interior decorator – better known as the Slageter sisters – the book is a testimony to both refinement and fun. In it, you can learn to make your party "So Chic" with elegant crafts and décor, or go "So Slageter" with rubber chickens, wacky costumes, and a healthy dose of humor.

Whether you're planning an anniversary, Mardi Gras, or a child's birthday, Babs and Susan know how to bring the goods. At the heart of all the shenanigans, however, are Babs's gourmet recipes, which are big on flavor, light on butter, and sure to please at any occasion. Along with these, you'll find unique arrangement insights from Susan and her years of decorating experience. So stick your tongue firmly in your cheek and learn to entertain the Slageter way: with humor, heart, and above all, delicious food.

Babs Horner is a gourmet caterer of "Absolutely Babulous" and a needlepoint "It's A Stitch" entrepreneur. Babs lives with her husband, Jack, in New Canaan, Connecticut, and they have two daughters, Katie and Susie.

Susan (Sue Sue) Palma is a nationally and locally published decorator of Susan Palma Interiors and co-owner of The Design Girls, with Muffin Lemak. Susan lives in Dallas with her husband, Gene, and they have two sons, Alex and Charlie.

Both sisters are not socialites but fauxcialites who have planned and directed numerous charity events. Some of these have been galas, a luncheon for one thousand, a black-tie comedy night, Festival of Trees, Deck the Hall, school carnivals, and auctions from coast to coast. Both have been lucky to have had repeat clients for twenty-five years.

In addition, they are both proud members of the clubs Edmondson Swim Club, Costco, and The Fruit of the Month.

109 Cheese and Wine is located at 109 Danbury Road, the Marketplace at Copps Hill.
