Apocalyptica Plays Metallica By Four Cellos at The Ridgefield Playhouse on May 29

You’ve never heard Metallica sound like this! Nordic rockers Apocalyptica are best known for their recently re-issued 1996 debut, Apocalyptica Plays Metallica By Four Cellos. The epic, cello-driven rock opus changed the landscape of heavy metal music, created their very own genre (classical rock!) and laid the foundation to a career that has lasted for more than 20 years, with millions of records sold and sold out shows around the world. Apocalyptica brings their unique take on heavy metal to The Ridgefield Playhouse on Tuesday, May 29th at 7:30pm, part of the Pepsi Rock Series powered by Xfinity.  Don’t miss your chance to hear the Finnish band’s groundbreaking album, Apocalyptica Plays Metallica By Four Cellos, performed live in its entirety! Visit Ancient Mariner (451 Main Street ~ Ridgefield) for dinner the night of the show and enjoy a complimentary glass of house wine or draft beer with the purchase of an entree with your ticket! Media partner for this event is 99.1 PLR, Whatever Rocks.

Apocalyptica formed when four friends, recently graduated from the prestigious Sibelius Music Academy in Finland, got together to combine their two loves: classical cello and heavy metal music. The band became a household name with the release of their Metallica covers album, Apocalyptica Plays Metallica By Four Cellos. Metal fans all over the world purchased this first-of-its-kind re-interpretation of Metallica, and its follow-up, Inquisition Symphony, which covered other heavy rock bands like Slayer and Pantera. The band never toured the United States when those albums were originally released, but have been on the road celebrating the 20th anniversary of their groundbreaking debut since 2016. Don’t miss this great evening of classical rock!

For tickets ($45) call or visit the box office, 203-438-5795 or go online at ridgefieldplayhouse.org.  The Ridgefield Playhouse is a non-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT.
