ROAR Father’s Day Event to be Held at Ancona’s New Wine and Liquor Store

Ridgefield-area residents can help support “Man’s Best Friend” at a Father’s Day fundraising event benefiting Ridgefield Operation for Animal Rescue (ROAR) that is being sponsored by Ancona’s Wines & Liquors. The event will take place on June 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ancona’s new store located at 17B Governor Street in Ridgefield, CT.

Ridgefield-area residents can shop for a variety of gifts for Father’s Day at the event. ROAR items available for Dad will include hats and sweatshirts. Ancona’s will donate 10 percent of all sales during the event, which will go to ROAR to support the ROAR Donofrio Family Animal Shelter to continue rescuing, caring for and adopting cats and dogs. The shelter is located at 45 South Street, Ridgefield, CT.

ROAR dogs will also be available for adoption at the event from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Ridgefield-area residents will also have a chance to win beautiful cat and dog gift baskets at the event. In addition, shoppers can sample a ROAR specialty cocktail at the event. Wine, beer and bourbon tastings will also be available.

Ancona’s Wine & Liquors has been serving the community since the early 1920s. In addition to its newest location in downtown Ridgefield at 17B Governor Street, Ancona’s has locations at 720 Branchville Road in Ridgefield, and 5 River Road in Wilton. Each year, ROAR’s shelter provides a warm, safe and welcoming place for approximately 300 homeless cats and dogs to recover and await adoption. ROAR’s staff and team of volunteers provide loving care, daily exercise, training and enrichment, grooming, excellent medical care and individual kennel accommodations to create a home-like environment.

Since its inception in 2000, ROAR has placed more than 5,000 dogs and cats into loving forever homes. ROAR’s shelter, named for the Donofrio family in recognition of their generous and ongoing support, opened its doors in 2005. The shelter provides a warm, safe, welcoming place for homeless pets to recover and await adoption. For additional information, please visit www.roar-ridgefield.org.
