The Generator to be held tomorrow at the Ridgefield Library

 

The Ridgefield Arts Council invites local artists, art lovers and creative professionals to the next installment of “The Generator.” The networking event will feature speakers discussing their respective artistic endeavors, and will be held at 7:30pm, Monday, June 11that the Ridgefield Library.  

During the event, artists, writers and performers gather with the goal of learning, sharing, and networking with others to enhance both their creative process and their careers.  The events are managed via the website Meetup.com and feature innovative speakers, arts demonstrations and presentations geared toward the creative community.   

Writer/Director/Producer Gavin Guerra will speak about his current project “Let the People Decide,” a documentary film about voting rights. Guerra has spent 28 years creating award-winning visual entertainment. During that time he has worked in many formats (Film, TV, Theater, Interactive) on a variety of fantastic projects (X2- Xmen United, Vertical Limit, Radio City Music Hall’s Christmas Spectacular, as well as countless TV commercials and show opens).  Guerra owns and operates Vram FX studios in Astoria, NY

Laurie Kenagy, Executive Director of the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra, will be discussing the role orchestras play in today’s arts culture and society at large, and the impact music has on different populations within our community. Kenagy holds an MBA from Duke University, was an investment banker in a prior career and began working with music-related non-profits fifteen years ago. Kenagy is also the President of the Western Connecticut Youth Orchestra Board of Directors.

Following the brief presentations, members of The Generator will be encouraged to mix and mingle with presenters and each other.  Creative types who live in and around Ridgefield are welcome to attend.  Cost of attending The Generator is $5 for pre-registration (via meetup.com/The-Generator-Ridgefield-CTor $10 at the door, which covers the cost of wine and light snacks.
