Aldrich Launches Main Street Video Program on Sunday

Small Screen, Big Ideas: An Animated Afternoon at The Aldrich on Sunday, June 24 from 1 pm to 4 pm

Free!

Don’t miss the launch of the Museum’s new Main Street Video program, a 12-week series featuring short video works by four artists in the Museum’s historic Old Hundred building. Watch the first video in this four-part series, Marina Zurkow’s playful and thought-provoking The Thirsty Bird, then participate in a workshop in The Studio. Explore animation—both low and high tech! Create your own hand-drawn flipbook in a creative session led by Museum educators, and make a stop-motion video inspired by the exhibitions on view with the guidance of Alex Gonzalez, an expert from Jacob Burns Film Center. Grab some deliciousness-for-purchase from Twins BBQ food truck and enjoy the melodic sounds of local favorites, Blue Yodels.

Alex Gonzalez is a writer, filmmaker and Virtual Reality developer. He travels to schools across the tri-state area and teaches students how to get started in VR, including how to brainstorm, code, and rapidly iterate ideas into practice. With a primary focus on storytelling, Alex has led dozens of students from imagination to project completion. He is the founder of New Haven VR Developer Group and his debut VR film Beyond the Mountain premiered last year at Jacob Burns Film Center and was the first VR film to be accepted into the Middlebury Film Festival.

The Aldrich is located at 258 Main Street. Learn more here.
