Ridgefield Library Announces Updated Schedule and Sponsorship Plans for September 28 and 29 FORE! Your Library Mini-Golf Tournament

Town’s Library Will Transform Into an 18-Hole Golf Course For Third Annual “Love Your Library” Celebration Friday, September 28 and Saturday, September 29

The Ridgefield Library today announced new timing and sponsorship plans for the upcoming “FORE! your library” tournament, which will transform its three floors into a custom 18-hole mini-golf course.  The event is open to the public and will be the centerpiece of Ridgefield’s third annual “Love Your Library” Days (popularly known as “LYL”), which returns with a variety of fun activities for families and adults around town on Friday, September 28 and Saturday, September 29.

The highlight of the weekend promises to be the return of the popular Challenge Cup Mini-Golf Tournament on Saturday evening, September 29, from 6:30-10-30 p.m. This adult-only event, catered by Odeen’s BBQ, allows teams of four golfers to compete for the 2018 title.  Registration is $300 for a foursome, which includes food and adult beverages.  Solo and couples packages are also available for $75 and $150, respectively, with players assigned to open foursomes. Gallery tickets for spectators and fans are $50 per person with wine, beer and food by the bite served in the tournament’s Hospitality Tent, a transformed Bossidy Commons.  Sports Commentator Russ Thaler will be the tournament announcer, and tickets are on sale now.

New this year will be a “teen-only” mini-golf event on Friday evening, September 28.  Middle school and high school students from the town’s many service clubs will be invited to help set up the course beginning at 5:00 p.m. and then get first shot at playing the course they helped design the rest of the evening.  Students will get community service hours for contributing to the event, and volunteers are welcomed.  Food and refreshments will be served.  Teen Night is sponsored by Woody and Suni Harford.

Open golf for families again will be available from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 29. Tickets are $5 per player and all equipment will be provided. Library trivia games and other fun family activities will also take place until 4:00 pm.

A wide array of sponsorship packages are available for the weekend, including the 19th Hole Presenting Sponsor and sponsorship options for each of the 18 holes on the course.  Sponsors will again be invited to decorate their holes with their most creative and artistic design to market/promote their business to all segments of the Ridgefield community who will see their hole throughout the weekend.  This year’s hole sponsors already include the Ridgefield Academy, Ridgefield Playhouse, St. Mary’s School, the Salem Golf Club, the Tutoring Club of Ridgefield and Stamford and the Wooster School.

Sponsorship packages are available online at www.ridgefieldlibrary.org or by contacting Laureen Bubniak at 203-438-2282, x11029 or lmbubniak@ridgefieldlibrary.org.

“In addition to fun at the Library, you will see volunteers handing out free bookmarks and accepting donations all around town,” said Brenda McKinley, the Library’s director.  “We hope that the whole community will join us to celebrate the important role that the Library plays as a centerpiece of our community.”
