Town’s Library Will Transform Into an 18-Hole Golf Course

August 29, 2018 – The Ridgefield Library announced plans for their upcoming “FORE! your library” mini-golf fundraiser presented by The Friends of the Ridgefield Library, which will transform its three floors into a custom 18-hole mini-golf course.  The event is open to the public and will be the centerpiece of Ridgefield’s third annual “Love Your Library” Days (popularly known as “LYL”), which returns with a variety of fun activities for families and adults around town on Friday, September 28 and Saturday, September 29.

The highlight of the weekend promises to be the return of the popular Challenge Cup Mini-Golf Tournament on Saturday evening, September 29, from 6:30-10:30 p.m. This adult-only event, catered by Odeen’s BBQ, allows teams of four golfers to compete for the 2018 title.  Registration is $300 for a foursome, which includes food and adult beverages.  Solo and couples packages are also available for $75 and $150, respectively, with players assigned to open foursomes. Gallery tickets for spectators and fans are $50 per person with wine, beer and food by the bite served in the tournament’s Hospitality Tent, a transformed Bossidy Commons.  Sports Commentator Russ Thaler will be the tournament announcer, and tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online at www.ridgefieldlibrary.org.

New this year will be a “teen-only” mini-golf event on Friday evening, September 28 from 6:30 – 10:00 pm.  Middle school and high school students will have the first shot at playing the course for $10 per player.  Food and refreshments will be served.  All participants will be entered into a raffle for Ridgefield gift cards.  Three prizes will be awarded with total values of $100, $75 and $50.  Teen Night is sponsored by Woody and Suni Harford.

Open golf for families again will be available from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 29. Tickets are $5 per player and all equipment will be provided. Library trivia games and other fun family activities will also take place until 4:00 pm.

A limited number sponsorship packages are still available online at www.ridgefieldlibrary.org.  Hole sponsors will again be invited to decorate their holes with their most creative and artistic design to market/promote their business to all segments of the community who will see their hole throughout the weekend.  This year’s sponsors already include the Friends of the Ridgefield Library, Woody and Suni Harford, Carbonite, UBS, Fincham Downs LLC, Salem Golf Club, A-Z Landscaping, Golf Performance Center, Ridgefield Academy, Ridgefield Education & Learning Center, Ridgefield Pet, Ridgefield Playhouse, Saint Mary School, Soccer & Rugby Imports, Tutoring Club of Ridgefield & Stamford and Wooster School.

“In addition to fun at the Library, you will see volunteers handing out free bookmarks and accepting donations all around town,” said Brenda McKinley, the Library’s director.  “We hope that the whole community will join us to celebrate the important role that the Library plays as a centerpiece of our community.”
