Learn about the daily life and the after-effects of internment for Japanese-American citizens and resident Japanese aliens who were incarcerated during WWII in a seminar at Founders Hall on Friday, October 5, at 1 pm.
In 1942, the United States government ordered more than 110,000 men, women, and children to leave their homes and detained them in remote, military-style camps, including the Manzanar War Relocation Center in California. Dr. Darla Shaw, professor of education at Western CT State University, along with her husband, Ben Shaw, will share what they learned while working on publications, exhibits and oral histories as volunteers at Manzanar National Historic Site. They will show photos, books and other materials during the seminar.
