The Michael Chekhov Theater Festival October 6 and October 7

The Michael Chekhov Theater Festival celebrates its 10th Anniversary with a line-up of groundbreaking performances during Columbus Day weekend, October 5 and October 6

The festival celebrates the legacy of the renowned actor, director, author who made a profound contribution to stage and film worldwide. He became a part of Ridgefield’s heritage when he moved his dramatic art school from England in 1939 to the barn that still stands on North Salem Road. His unique approach to acting spread across the country and influenced actors including Marilyn MonroeAnthony QuinnClint Eastwood, Yul BrynnerPatricia NealSterling HaydenJack Palance, Beatrice Straight, Elia Kazan and Lloyd Bridges. He received an Academy Award nomination for his role as Dr. Brulov in Alfred Hitchcock’s Spellbound.

“Chekhov’s contribution to the artistic history of Ridgefield is immeasurable and I am thrilled to have been able to honor him these last 10 years,” says Executive Producer Abby Walker, herself a student of the Chekhov Technique. “The 2018 Season is shaping up to be the best ever.”
