Keeler Tavern #HandsOnHistory Sunday Family Talk on October 14

From Flax to Linen – Family Talk and Demonstration at KTM&HC #HandsOnHistory Exhibition in the Barn on Sunday, October 14

Families will be able to walk through the exhibition with their children and participate in cleaning, spinning, dying, and weaving wool. Hands-on activities for all ages include carding wool, spinning fibers, dying with natural dyes, and tactile learning through manipulating different fibers and textiles.

Everyone is invited to participate in a community weaving project by adding to a weaving loom to create a unique #HandsOnHistory tapestry. All weaving materials are sourced from the Ridgefield Thrift Shop, where the tapestry will go on display after completion.

Sunday Family Talks are part of KTM&HC’s #HandsOnHistory Month programming, in conjunction with the special exhibition, “Threading the Needle: From Field to Fabric,” located in the historic carriage barn and open to the public during Museum hours, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday, 1 – 4 PM, through October 31. Admission to both the exhibition and Sunday Family Talks is free. More information at www.keelertavernmuseum.org.
