The Nutcracker performed by Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance at Playhouse December 14, 15 and 16

A Holiday tradition returns – The Nutcracker at The Ridgefield Playhouse on December 14, 15 and 16

Add a touch of magic to your holiday season! Don’t miss live performances of The Nutcracker at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Friday, December 14 at 6pm, Saturday, December 15 at 2pm and 6pm and Sunday, December 16 at 11am and 2pm, presented and performed by Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance. This show is part of the Ridgefield Academy Family Series with support from Hamlet Hub and is partially underwritten by Benchmark Senior Living at Ridgefield Crossings with support from the Ridgefield Library.  The production is directed and choreographed by Alexander Glaz, Ballet Master for Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance. Enjoy a beautiful holiday tradition in a magical land where sugar plums dance, flowers waltz to tell the classic tale of a young girl and her Nutcracker prince.

Tchaikovsky’s soaring score, graceful ballerinas, wooden soldiers that come to life and a gargantuan Christmas tree will make the holidays bright for young and old!  This year’s fresh production will be presented by The Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance (RCD) with student and professional cast members who will delight with new choreography and costumes.

“This year a lot of exciting new changes are coming to RCD’s production of the Nutcracker!” proclaims Mr. Glaz, “We have our largest cast by far, and with that, a growing and evolving spectacle of the Nutcracker. In the first act, I am adding a number of new characters such as the ‘Clock Critters,’ a ‘Parlor Maid,’ and the ‘Columbine Doll’ as part of the party scene. In the second act, ‘Little Lanterns’ of the Chinese dance will be making their appearance followed by ‘Matryoshkas’ of the Russian dance. And last but not least, the grand premier of ‘Mother Ginger’ with the hope that we can fit her dress through the wings and onto the stage! This will surely be a treat and an inspiration for the whole family.”

For tickets ($25 Adults, $20 Children), call or visit the box office at The Ridgefield Playhouse, (203) 438-5795. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT; ridgefieldplayhouse.org.
