Ridgefield Library Holds Artist Reception for WCSU Student Show

Thresholds Exhibition:  Western CT State University Student Show on View at Ridgefield Library now through January 16, 2019

Artists' Reception, Thursday, December 6 from 6 - 8 PM

Join us for an Artists' Reception for this WCSU Student Show (from Professor Marques' Painting IV class), on Thursday, December 6 from 6 - 8 PM. Of these paintings, questions about materials, perception, and the unknown are raised.

As these artists look inward, they encounter emotions and experiences that have profoundly affected their lives. Courageously, these artists tell stories that truthfully address and illustrate ways of dealing with individual memory and history. By cultivating perceptions, these artists encourage and uplift one another as they struggle with articulating the human experience. Viewers are asked to see the thresholds that depict the physical and the spiritual, the mundane and the profound, and are invited to question, escape, feel, and transcend.

Sabrina Marques is an Assistant Professor of Painting and MFA Critic at Western Connecticut State University. In 2018, she received a Connecticut Commission for the Arts Fellowship. Marques has a BA in Visual Arts from Columbia University and a MFA in Painting and Printmaking from The Yale School of Art. Refreshments will be served.
