Lyme Connection Starting New Daytime Support Group in Ridgefield January 23

Lyme Connection Starting New Daytime Support Group January 23

Lyme Connection, Ridgefield’s tickborne disease task force, welcomes 2019 with a new daytime support group led by Lisa Oren, LCSW. The new group will meet from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on the fourth Wednesday of each month beginning January 23.

Lyme Connection continues to hold its evening support group on the second Thursday of each month from 5 to 7 p.m. Both free meetings will be held at the Lyme Connection offices in the Town Hall Annex at 66 Prospect St. in Ridgefield. Oren, who previously ran a second evening group for the organization, felt a daytime gathering was necessary due to the problems patients often have with fatigue and night driving, especially in winter weather. Oren describes these monthly meetings as “offering general support and validation, where people share their experiences living with Lyme and co-infections, managing symptom flare-ups, alternative treatments, and the everyday challenges of life along with self-care.”

Oren generously contributes her time to this effort because she has seen first hand how isolating the experience of living with Lyme can be and how necessary this support is for patients suffering from these diseases.

Patients and caregivers from all towns are invited to join on a regular or drop-in basis. For additional information including details about upcoming guest speakers and weather cancellations, check the calendar at LymeConnection.org.
