Please join us as we welcome the Gary Smulyan Trio to the Jazz Masters Series. Internationally renowned as the leading voice on the baritone saxophone, Gary Smulyan joined Woody Herman's Young Thundering Herd at the age of 22 and went on to perform with the Mel Lewis Jazz Orchestra, the Charles Mingus Big Band, and many jazz luminaries, including Freddie Hubbard, Dizzy Gillespie, Stan Getz, Chick Corea, and Tito Puente. In addition to his work with the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra and the bands of Joe Lovano and Dave Holland, he is a standout leader with more than ten recordings under his own name.

"Smulyan's tone seems to get bigger and his ideas more expansive from album to album," wrote long-time critic Doug Ramsey in Jazz Times magazine. He will be joined by the stellar David Wong on bass and the outstanding Rodney Green on drums.

The first set begins at 6:30 pm, so making your reservations for 6:00 pm will ensure that you'll fully enjoy the music and dining.
