Country Music Icon Tanya Tucker comes to The Ridgefield Playhouse on April 4

“I think that it’s time for us to remind the world that she's influenced a whole corner of country music that no one else has even touched,” says Grammy Award-winner Brandi Carlile discussing her reverence for country music icon Tanya Tucker. “She’s the most fascinating person in country music right now, and no one knows it,” Carlile told Variety in a recent interview, in which she announced that she is working on a new album with and documentary about Tanya Tucker.

Don’t miss the chance to see Country Music Hall of Famer Tanya Tucker when she takes the stage at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Thursday, April 4 at 8pm. Beginning with her first hit, “Delta Dawn” at the age of 13, Tucker has been Country Music Royalty.  Tanya’s reign includes 23 Top 40 albums and a string of 56 Top 40 singles, 10 of which reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard charts. Along the way, she has provided some of the biggest country music hits of each decade, including " "Soon," “Two Sparrows in a Hurricane,” “It’s a Little Too Late,” "Trouble" and “Texas (When I Die).” Tucker is also the recipient of numerous awards, including two CMAs, two ACMs and three CMT awards.

Opening for Tanya is Kirsten Maxwell. This show is part of Mountain Dew Country & Bluegrass Series built by Ring’s End with support from Adam Broderick Salon & Spa.  Visit Bailey’s Backyard (23 Bailey Avenue • Ridgefield) for an early dinner and receive 10% off when you show your ticket! Media partner for this event is KICKS 105.5 Today’s Best Country.

One of the only women to be considered part of the Outlaw movement, along with Emmylou Harris and men like Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Hank Williams Jr., Tucker’s  sultry voice and vivacious stage presence makes her one of the most admired and respected female vocalists in the country music genre, inspiring a multitude of others.  In August 2016, the Academy of Country Music honored Tucker with the Cliffie Stone Icon Award during the 10th Annual ACM Honors™.

All-inclusive sales of singles, albums, hits collections and digital downloads have topped 25 million records worldwide. As Rolling Stone Country put it, “Her mighty voice eventually proved to be timeless .... defining what it means to be a ‘stylist.’ After the first note, you know it’s Tanya Tucker.”

Opening act Kirsten Maxwell is a New York raised, Nashville based singer/songwriter. She started writing songs in High School and performing regularly at open mics and small gigs in College. Since then, Kirsten has committed to a life of music full-time. Without the help of label, agent, or manager, she has toured extensively in the U.S., released one album and recorded an EP, won a number of songwriting competitions and performed at festivals on the East Coast and in Texas.

Her grassroots following doubled in the past year and the release of her new self-titled EP garnered reviews from such notable publications as No Depression Magazine. In December, Kirsten opened for rock icon Melissa Etheridge. She has also shared stages with Karla Bonoff, Ferron, Sophie Hawkins, Bill Staines, Michael Johnson, Slaid Cleaves, Vance Gilbert, and Nicole Atkins, and now Tanya Tucker!
