Rick Springfield Stripped Down in intimate performance at The Ridgefield Playhouse, September 22

Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, and musician Rick Springfield has sold 25 million albums and scored 17 U.S. Top 40 hits, including “Jessie’s Girl,” “Don’t Talk to Strangers,” “An Affair of the Heart,” “I’ve Done Everything for You,” “Love Somebody,” and “Human Touch.” Rick Springfield returns to The Ridgefield Playhouse with his Stripped Down Tour -- an intimate evening of music and storytelling -- Sunday, September 22 at 8pm. Lucinda & Michael will open the show.

Rick Springfield is the creator of some of the finest power-pop of the ’80s. Originally dismissed as a mere teen idol, his music has stood the test of time. He made his acting debut in the ‘80s as Dr. Noah Drake on the popular soap opera “General Hospital” and has appeared on many TV shows and films since, including a standout performance opposite Meryl Streep in Jonathan Demme’s Ricki & The Flash. He can also be seen in Dave Grohl’s documentary about the legendary recording studio, Sound City. For his latest album, 2019’s Orchestrating My Life Springfield adapted his greatest hits for strings and brass on which he plays with an orchestra. Additionally, he is a New York Times best selling novelist (Magnificent Vibration) of which Variety raved, “This is not the prose of a rock star who decided to try his hand at novel writing, but of a novelist who just happens to be a rock star.”

Never one to be confined to the recording studio where the music is born, Springfield has toured for over 30 years, hand-delivering the hits to millions of fans worldwide via his dynamic live shows. His concerts are legendary with their rock heavy, high energy full band sets. However, in Fall 2013 Springfield felt it was time to expand his live performance options. Hence the solo “Stripped Down” tour was created to bring an intimate yet still lively performance to fans, along with the chance to perform some of his favorite songs that never quite fit in his full band sets. The singer incorporates personal stories about his music and life into the show and even adds a question and answer segment as a way to truly connect with his audience. Modeled after 2015’s Stripped Down L.P. which AllMusic.com describes as “turning down the volume and turning up the charm. He's telling stories and cracking wise…”
