Michael Chekhov Theater Festvial announces Throw Pitchfork to replace Truth Values on Friday at Theater Barn

“Throw Pitchfork” – this play will be replacing “Truth Values” on Friday, October 18th at 8:00pm

Alexander Thomas's one-man show "Throw Pitchfork" (both written and performed by him) ran off Broadway at New York Theatre Workshop and the Kitchen Theatre Company before winning a Special Honors award at Thespis Mono Drama Festival in Germany.

This 75 minute one-act play is about the search for a black man’s self-definition and how that is passed on through four brothers as they struggle with the Jim Crow legacy of their father. The deep wounds left on his psyche are passed on to a generation of sons. Told with humor and pathos by one of those sons, this is based on a true story that puts human faces on the fallout of America's original sin.

The Play is directed by Sara Lampert Hoover has directed many notable plays and has won the SALT awards.

The Michael Chekhov Theatre Festival is celebrating its eleventh year. Inspired by the innovative, imagination-based technique of Michael Chekhov, the festival is dedicated to discovering and welcoming original artists, presenting their creative work and offering sanctuary to experiment and explore new theatre in Ridgefield, which has become a thriving theatrical hub.

The nephew of famed Russian playwright Anton Chekhov, Michael Chekhov (1891-1955) achieved fame in his own right as an actor/director/author who relocated his dramatic arts school from England to Ridgefield in 1939.

The Ridgefield Theater Barn has been entertaining audiences since 1965.

Doors open at 7:00pm.  We are a cabaret theater.  Please feel free to bring food and drink to indulge at the theater before or during the show.  A cash bar serving beer and wine along with a signature cocktail will be open prior to the show & at intermission.  Thank you for your support.  We look forward to seeing you at the show.
