Too Blue & The Angry O’Haras Coming to FCC of Ridgefield's Bluegrass Coffeehouse and Open Jam

Mark your calendars for the next FCC Bluegrass Coffeehouse & Open Bluegrass Jam on Saturday, November 23 from 7-10 pm at the First Congregational Church of Ridgefield featuring The Angry O'Hara's and Too Blue.

The First Congregational Church of Ridgefield offers this affordable family-friendly event each month for bluegrass musicians and music lovers where food, drink, and a casual fun environment are on display!

The Angry O’Haras will kick off the evening at 7:00 pm. The band says of their music,” If you need to pin a label on us, probably the closest thing is Progressive Bluegrass. But it’s just not that simple. Bluegrass is our compass, but we use it to navigate many musical regions while employing fiddle, guitar, banjo and bass as the instrumental foundation for three- and four-part harmonies. The majority of our songs are reinventions of traditional folk, favorites you may have grown up with, plus lots of new music with an added twist. And it seems our music often makes people want to move their body parts around.”

Too Blue (http://www.toobluemusic.com/) takes the stage at 8:00 pm. They note that “traveling freely between the genres of bluegrass, swing, Celtic and jazz, a Too Blue performance is a dynamic dose of serious fun. Smooth harmonies and adventurous musicianship bring stellar arrangements to life and leave the listener anything but “blue”. Their newest release, “Trouble With the Grey”, produced and engineered by Bob Harris of Ampersand Records, has received national radio airplay and enthusiastic reviews from Bluegrass Today and Bluegrass Unlimited.

At 9 pm, all musicians (please remember to bring your instruments) from the audience will be welcomed onto the stage, along with the evening’s performers, into an open jam session, to be led by Austin Scelzo. If you are a musician new to jamming and planning to attend, please arrive at 6:30 pm when the open jam concept will be explained.

Admission is $10 per person and $5 for performing musicians. Free admission for children. Hot dogs, cookies, snacks and drinks will be available for sale.
