An Evening of One Act Plays Opens March 13 at the Ridgefield Theater Barn

This year’s An Evening of One Act Plays at the Ridgefield Theater Barn is a production that was sourced both locally, such as Carol Mark’s (Ridgefield, CT) At The Water’s Edge, and internationally, such as Slow Dating and One Night Stan, both by Adam Szudrich (Sydney, Australia) – but the themes are universal. Audiences will notice some interesting parallels, particularly between Breaking & Entering by Ellie Martino (directed by Shawn Tyler Allen) and Sirens by Carol Mullen (directed by Joe Harding), two comedies that take place in the police world, injecting potential romance but in very different ways.

As always, this annual event leans toward light-hearted fare, but not without elements that ponder the human condition. Wait for It by Mary Ethel Schmidt (directed by Duane Lanham), Which Wildflower Are You? by Linda Bidwell Delaney (directed by Kate Patton), Home, Sweet Homeland Security by C.J. Ehrlich (directed by Michael Ferrara), Foothold by Patrick Lennon (directed by Brian DeToma), and the aforementioned At the Water’s Edge (directed by David Fritsch), Slow Dating (directed by Linda Seay), and One Night Stan (directed by Nancy Ponturo), all take relatable journeys, but with interesting twists that require the audience to contemplate what possibilities in our everyday lives may lie just below the surface.

Always featuring a talented array of local actors, the 2020 production includes Joshua Adelson, Rachel Ames, Kristin Aug, Flori Doyle, Larry Greeley, Jennifer Hankla, Stephanie Hepburn, Christine Hruska, Timothy Huber, Valerie Huegel, Pamme Jones, Carly Jurman, Aaron Kaplan, Panni Layton, Kimberly Marcus, Taffy Miller, Jason Nekritz, Amy Oestreicher, Matt Pagliaro, Craig David Rosen, Bonnie Rose, Cooper Smithers, Chhanda Som, Nicole Veach, Emily Volpintesta, and Emma Waters.

An Evening of One Act Plays will be presented Friday and Saturday evenings at 8pm, March 13th through April 4th, with Sunday matinees on March 22nd and 29th at 2pm.

The Ridgefield Theater Barn is a cabaret theater, and patrons are encouraged to bring food and drink to enjoy before the show. Doors open one hour prior to curtain.
