Ridgefield Guild of Artists presents its 43rd Annual Juried Exhibition in the gallery barn from Sunday, September 20th through Sunday, October 18th.
“We are excited to offer this annual event ‘in person’ this fall. When we had to close our gallery last March, we went virtual for a number of shows that followed,” said Pam Stoddart, Executive Director of the Guild, “but now we can offer our longest running, and most prestigious juried show for visitors again.” Artists from around the northeast (and one from Washington state) have created works in a variety of media.
Cybele Maylone, this year’s juror, is the Executive Director of The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum. A non-collecting institution located in Ridgefield, CT, The Aldrich was one of the first contemporary art museums in the country and is today one of the oldest. From the over 340 pieces by 124 artists, Ms. Maylone selected 68 pieces by 42 artists. “Serving as a juror for an exhibition like this is always tremendously interesting, but is also filled with many agonizing decisions. Looking at hundreds of works that have been lovingly submitted and having to exclude many from the final exhibition is a difficult task. But in selecting the works for this exhibition, I understood the task at hand—to identify the most compelling works for recognition by the Guild.
To practice safe Covid compliance, there will not be an opening reception. Viewing will be by appointment during regular gallery hours, Wed-Sun, 12-4pm.
