Contemporary Art Meets Dance: Collaborative Movement Masterclass at The Aldrich on Nov. 8

The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum will host an interactive outdoor collaborative movement masterclass that highlights the intersections between contemporary art and dance on Sunday, November 8th from 1:00p to 3:00pm.

The Aldrich’s Education Manager Noah Fox will guide dancers through a socially distanced tour of the Sculpture Garden where Frank Stella’s Stars, A Survey, is on exhibit, and Amy Piantaggini will lead dancers through a movement warm-up.  Ms. Piantaggini holds a Masters in Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts from Goddard College and is Executive Director of Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance, a nonprofit dance organization committed to community engagement.  Dancers will then explore choreographic techniques to create movement phrases inspired by the sculptures, share phrases with each other, and further develop their work based on the feedback discussion.

The program is open to dancers in the community with dance experience ranging from zero to pre-professional!  Any and all age ten and up are welcome.  Given the season, dancers should dress warmly layered and wear sneakers.  Masks must be worn and social distance maintained at all times.

As an artist-centered institution, The Aldrich is guided by the belief that artists are innovative thinkers, who offer unique perspectives on our world. Learning at The Aldrich engages visitors of all ages with artworks and ideas from these artists, fostering a public space for critical discourse while focusing on interactive experiences around contemporary culture.
