Take a Guided Outdoor Hike
Wednesdays and weekends
Starting this month, Keeler Tavern Museum & History Center is offering docent-led outdoor tours of its historic site. Tours are scheduled for Wednesdays at 11 a.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 1 and 2 p.m., weather permitting.
Initially, KTM&HC will offer two tours, Gilberts at the Cannon Ball House and A Short Walk Through Three Centuries. Each tour will last about 45 minutes. Online registration is required. These tours are appropriate for all age groups.
Be sure to dress appropriately and to wear comfortable shoes suitable for covering uneven terrain. In inclement weather, tours will be canceled two hours prior to start time. Please check the website for status updates.
Due to the pandemic, tour groups will be limited to eight people. Visitors must wear masks and are asked to observe social-distancing protocols. Tours start at the Visitor Center and are free, but a $5 donation is suggested.
Currier & Ives and Women's Rights, Part 1
Tuesday, January 26
Longtime KTM&HC board member and volunteer Joel Third has deep knowledge of the work of Currier & Ives, and in this free two-part discussion, he'll talk about how they presented the story of women's suffrage. He'll illustrate the story with his extensive collection of Currier & Ives prints. Save the date. Registration link to follow.
Thanks to a generous Quick Grant from Connecticut Humanities, KTM&HC recently upgraded its equipment and improved its ability to offer state-of-the-art digital programs. A new large-screen laptop with digital webcam and wireless microphone allow KTM&HC to live-stream award-winning school programs directly from the museum. To set up a virtual field trip, email education@keelertavernmuseum.org.
