Libby Copeland, author of the 2020 book The Lost Family, How DNA Testing Is Upending Who We Are, will present a webinar on The Cultural Phenomenon of Home DNA Testing for the Ridgefield Historical Society on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m.

More than 35 million Americans have provided DNA for testing and inclusion in databases; Ms. Copeland will discuss the implications of this relatively recent tool, which affects families in unanticipated ways while providing genealogists countless new leads. The Lost Family is not only the story of families whose lives were forever changed by the use of a seemingly simple test, it’s also “a philosophy book and an ethics treatise, with a touch of true crime,” according to a Washington Post reviewer.
