Celebrate Patriots’ Day in Ridgefield with Drum Hill Chapter, NSDAR April 16-19, 2021

In 2017 Connecticut joined Massachusetts, Maine, Wisconsin, North Dakota and Florida in proclaiming the observation of Patriots’ Day, the third Monday in the Month of April commemorating the Battles of Lexington and Concord, also known as the “shots heard round the world.” As America leads up to her 250^th birthday in 2026, the Drum Hill Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution is launching a Patriots’ Day Initiative.

Friday, April 16, 2021 7:00PM - Rendezvous with Rachel Revere

Judith Kalaora of HAP, LLC performs as Rachel Revere. It is May 2, 1775 and Rachel has only heard from her beloved husband Paul once since his legendary midnight ride on the 18^th of April. Still isolated from one another due to the Siege of Boston, Rachel desperately tries to create a plan to safely take her children: six step- children from Paul’s first marriage and a newborn baby of her own, from the reach of the British Regular Army in Boston.” In this family-friendly free program, Rachel carefully considers the dangers.   This is a Zoom presentation.                                              GET COLONIAL DAYS April 17-19

Saturday at 12 Noon. First Selectman Rudy Marconi will read a proclamation proclaiming April 19^th as Patriots’ Day at noon at the Lounsbury House Community Center. He will be joined by American Legion Post 78. Town Poet Laureate Barb Jennes will offer a poem.

Ridgefield Historical Society has been including special features in its weekly eblasts demonstrating colonial costumes.

Saturday through Monday  GET COLONIAL! Wear colonial costumes as you go about your daily activities. Be prepared to explain that you are commemorating the first battles of the Revolutionary War at Lexington and Concord.

Saturday and Sunday at 1pm and 2 pm.Enjoy a guided Colonial walking tour at Keeler Tavern Museum & History Center. Online reservations required. Following Covid Guidelines.
