Gong and Drum Circle at Make Music Ridgefield

Gong and Drum Circle to kick off the Ridgefield Make Music celebration at 11:30am on June 21

Bring your drums, toms, bongos and head to Ballard Park!

This year, Make Music Day is going to be a little different. To acknowledge the hardships and all those who lost their lives due to the pandemic, Make Music Day celebrations across the world are starting off the event with the sounding of a gong. Gongs traditionally have been used to mark a moment in time. This year we are going to mark the hopeful end of the pandemic and the welcoming of a new era.

After the sounding of the gong, we are asking the community to join in on a drum circle.

Some drums will be available for use, but please bring your own drum or other percussion instruments (flowerpot, bell, can, anything hard) to add to the sound. Drumsticks will be available if needed.

Lifelong musicians, Cynthia and Rick will lead our drum circle. They bring their passion and expertise to the idea of an inquiry into intentional sound. They have been making beautiful music and playing great grooves together for the last 13 years.
