Make Music Day at The Aldrich: WCYO Performs in Sculpture Garden and on Front Porch!

As part of Make Music Day, on Monday, June 21, Western Connecticut Youth Orchestra musicians will perform outside of The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum!

This is a free concert and no registration is required.

From 2 to 3 pm, Western Connecticut Youth Orchestra musicians will perform on the front porch of the "Old Hundred" building on Main Street doing "Paint the Music" where youth painters will paint in real time in response to the music.

From 3 to 5 pm, Western Connecticut Youth Orchestra musicians will perform In C in the Sculpture Garden.

In C a quintessential and enormously influential piece written by American composer, Terry Riley. As one of the first truly minimalistic pieces, the work consists of 53 musical phrases, which each individual musician chooses how many times to play before moving on. The piece is therefore indeterminate in length, lasting between 15 minutes to several hours (approx. an hour in length for Make Music Day), and can also be performed with any number of players and on any instrument, making each performance unique.

The Aldrich is located at 258 Main Street. Visit the Museum online here.
