Town of Ridgefield Presents a Free Fourth of July Concert in Ballard Park: Russ Kassoff Big Band Featuring Debbie Gravitte

Russ Kassoff Big Band Featuring Debbie Gravitte

Ridgefield is celebrating the Fourth of July in a big way this year! Not only have the fireworks been reinstated for Monday, July 5th- but the town, in partnership with The Ridgefield Playhouse and CHIRP, is presenting a free Fourth of July Concert in the park on Independence day!

"We felt this year was even more of a celebration than usual," says First Selectman Rudy Marconi, "and what better way to celebrate the freedom of our country than with the amazing big band sound of Russ Kassoff and our own award-winning resident Debbie Gravitte on vocals."

Indeed, Tony Award winner Debbie Gravitte will be joined by the amazing Big Band sounds of Russ Kassoff and his orchestra on July 4th at 4pm in Ballard Park.  The town is even temporarily expanding the stage in the park for this special July 4th concert in order to fit all of the musicians that make up this big band onto the stage. "This is also a celebration of the Arts," says Ridgefield Playhouse Executive Director Allison Stockel. "Because Ridgefield was just designated the first Cultural District in the state, we also wanted to celebrate that honor.  It feels great to see musicians working and performing in front of live audiences again, it's such a treat."

Both The Ridgefield Playhouse and CHIRP have helped coordinate this effort with the town, which will be FREE for all Ridgefield residents on July 4th in Ballard Park.  The show will feature iconic songs that celebrate America, as well as some Broadway tunes and more. "To have Debbie Gravitte, a long time Ridgefield resident and supporter of the arts, perform, is really the icing on the cake for this celebration," Says CHIRP producer Barbara Manners, who also happens to be one of Ridgefield's Selectwomen for more than 21 years.

So now you can celebrate your patriotic pride and enjoy live music, free for all, this Independence Day. A perfect way to honor America’s freedom and the town of Ridgefield opening up for all to enjoy.
