Ridgefield Schoolhouse Halloween: treats and stories on Sunday

The Peter Parley Schoolhouse on West Lane will be open to visitors for the last Sunday at the Schoolhouse of the year on Oct. 31, from 1 to 4.

It being Halloween, there will be treats for costumed visitors, and guests can learn about some of the tricks that youngsters who attended the school may have played.

At 3, storyteller Darla Shaw will visit to tell guests the story of The Red Petticoat, a Revolutionary War-era tale that involved a family whose children likely attended the West Lane School.

Jack and Sally Sanders from the Ridgefield Historical Society will be on hand to greet guests and answer questions.

Sundays at the Schoolhouse are sponsored by Fairfield County Bank and will resume on the last Sunday of May 2022. For more information, visit https://ridgefieldhistoricalsociety.org.
