The Ridgefield Library will start in-person chair yoga classes with Liz Wendel, every second Wednesday, beginning November 3rd, from 1:00-2:00 pm in the Main Program Room.
This bi-monthly Yoga class uses a chair (standing and seated) as a prop for support. Chair Yoga makes practicing yoga accessible for all populations, ages and conditions.
What is a Chair Yoga class like?
Chair Yoga classes with Liz, give you the full benefits of any other yoga class: centering, yoga warm-ups, yoga movements & postures, concentration & breathing techniques, guided relaxation & meditation.
According to experts, yoga has the following benefits that support healthy aging:
- Builds muscle strength to counteract the natural skeletal atrophy that happens with aging
- Improves flexibility to prevent the loss of range of motion
- Improves dynamic and static balance, reducing your risk of falling
- Improves mental and physical agility so you can react faster – enhancing your mind-body and body-mind connections - The Science of Yoga by Ann Swanson
