Let the holiday season begin! Starting Friday at 10am and running through Jan 17th on weekends, you’ll find Trains, Trains – and More Trains at The Great Trains Holiday Show at Wilton Historical Society. It’s one of Wilton’s most cherished holiday traditions! See Wilton’s historic 18th and 19th century buildings decorated and transformed into a train-lovers delight. Enjoy marvelous miniature holiday villages with many twinkling lights and buttons to push. Santa makes a visit December 11!

Norwalk’s Maritime Aquarium takes trains to a whole new dimension, starting Friday and running through Jan 2nd with “The Polar Express” presented as a 4D Experience in the aquarium’s new 4D Theater. This 13-minute version of the 2004 film arrives with thrill-enhancing sensory special effects such as scents, snow, and wind as a doubting young boy takes his extraordinary train ride to the North Pole. Also at The Maritime Aquarium every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday through Jan 2nd, Santa Claus is joining the dive team for “Shark-Diving Santa.” See him strapping on his custom scuba outfit and entering the Aquarium’s 110,000-gallon “Ocean Beyond the Sound” exhibit. Be sure to take your camera!

For a bit of comic relief, head over to the Fairfield Comedy Club on Friday at 9pm. Comedian Robert Dean comes home to Connecticut from NYC where he’s been building his career as a comedian. A Trumbull High and Fairfield University graduate, Robert now has two albums and a starring role in the Amazon Prime series, “Inside Jokes” He has also appeared in “The Stand-In,” on Comedy Central, and at countless clubs and festivals around the country. Get your tickets and give Robert a warm welcome home.

On Saturday and Sunday, 10am and 1pm The Ridgefield Theater Barn has invited The Traveling Lantern Theatre Company for a Theater for Young Audiences (TYA) production of The Story of Ebenezer Scrooge. Get the whole family into the holiday spirit with this 45-minute retelling of Charles Dickens’ holiday classic. This show is geared for young audiences and their families - and there is a talk-back with the cast after each show. 

It’s one-stop shopping from noon to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday at the Historic Rowayton Holiday Bazaar in Rowayton’s Pinkney Park. Grab “that perfect something” for everyone on your list at You’ll find hand-crafted gifts by local artisans, such as nautical vintage postcard pillows - and other unique Rowayton gifts, and plenty more - including candles for every room in the house.

On Saturday at 7pm, take in an evening screening of Learning to Live Together: The Return of Mad Dogs and Englishmen at The Ridgefield Playhouse. This electrifying documentary and concert film, starring Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi, spotlights the reunion of the celebrated “Mad Dogs & Englishmen,” short-lived tour with Joe Cocker and a mammoth thirty-two piece band. Following the screening, there will be an on stage interview and audience Q&A moderated by New York Times Best-Selling Author, Alan Paul. In the lobby before the show, fans can bid on silent auction items including signed memorabilia. 

Then on Sunday from 1-5pm, the New Canaan Carriage Barn Arts Center hosts Deck the Walls: Artists Sunday, This annual small works exhibit and wreath auction benefits the Center and it’s a great way to support local artists this holiday season. With artist demos, family holiday crafts and a wine tasting from 3-5pm. The exhibit runs through December 11.
