ACT of Connecticut Announces the Cast for Upcoming JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR

ACT (A Contemporary Theatre) of Connecticut is excited to announce their third production of the 2021-2022 season - Andrew Lloyd Webber’s JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR

Directed by ACT of CT’s Grammy-nominated Artistic Director Daniel C. Levine, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR will be the theater’s largest production to date, and will star some incredible Broadway talent.

This timeless rock opera follows the last week of Jesus Christ’s life as seen through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. This iconic rock score contains such well-known songs as “Jesus Christ Superstar,” “I Don’t Know How to Love Him” and “Gethsemane.”  JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR is a true global phenomenon that has been wowing audiences for 50 years. 

ACT of CT’s Artistic Director Daniel C. Levine says, “Our production will be unlike any other JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR that you have ever seen. I’ve worked on many productions of this show, including the 2000 Tony Nominated Broadway revival, and I believe that our upcoming version will be one of the best yet!” 

ACT of CT’s JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR will star Tony-nominated Caitlin Kinnunen as Mary, Brett Stoelker as Jesus, Avionce Hoyles as Judas, and will feature Chris Balestriere, Corinne Broadbent, Reggie Bromell, Susie Carroll, Ben Cherington, Randy Donaldson, Courtney Long, Marlena Hilderly Lopez, Kelly MacMillan, Michael McGuirk, Val Moranto, Ariel Neydavoud, Andrew Stevens Purdy, Isaac Ryckeghem, Sonya Venugopal, Cole Wachman, and Caitlin Witty.

JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR has music by Andrew Lloyd Webber (CATS, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA) and lyrics by Tim Rice (AIDA, Disney’s THE LION KING). The ACT of CT production will be directed ACT of CT’s Artistic Director Daniel C. Levine, with choreography by Sara Brians, music direction by Jeffrey Campos, music supervision by ACT of CT’s Grammy-nominated Bryan Perri, scenic design by Jack Mehler, costume design by Claudia Stefany, and lighting design by Penny Jacobus. 

JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR will run from Thursday, March 24 through Sunday, April 17, 2022 only, with a special opening night performance and pre-show reception on Saturday, March 26, 2022. Performances are: Thursdays at 7pm, Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 2pm & 8pm, Sundays at 2pm; with additional performances on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at 2pm and Sunday, April 10, 2022 at 7pm.

ACT of CT’s special Sensory Friendly performance of the show will take place on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 2pm (please call or email the box office for more details about this special performance which is not on sale to the general public).
