Ridgefield Running Company Inaugural First Responder 5k on June 12 Benefits Ridgefield VFD and Ridgefield PBA

Ridgefield Running Company presents the inaugural First Responder 5k on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at 7:30 AM. Members of the community are invited to participate in this challenging 5k road race alongside first responders that will be competing both with and without gear.

Special “with gear” and “without gear” awards will be presented to the top 3 males and females in each division, as well as “Top Department” team award and top 3 civilians.

The race starts at the Ridgefield Fire House and passes the Ridgefield Police Department, finishing at East Ridgefield Middle School.

“We are thrilled to recognize the first responders that keep our communities safe, and to help celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Ridgefield Volunteer Fire Department. Spectators get to have fun too, with safety displays featuring police and fire trucks and vehicles, and "touch a truck" opportunities at the finish line for both runners and spectators,” says Megan Searfoss, owner of Ridgefield Running Company.

Registration for the First Responder 5k is available now at www.ridgefieldrunning.com/events. The Ridgefield Police Benevolent Association provides protection, service, and financial assistance to the community whenever needed including providing support for Special Olympics and the Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield. The Ridgefield Volunteer Fire Department coordinates services with career personnel to bring full fire-fighting capabilities to the town, as well as fire prevention initiatives and emergency medical services.
