D.Colabella Fine Art Gallery, located at 446 Main Street, Ridgefield, is excited to present Gregg Emery: Caldera, A Mid-Career Retrospective. Drawing its name from the Caldera of Santorini, a natural landmark and symbol of cyclical life and death, this retrospective reflects on the layered, but connected, nature of Emery’s work.
Delightfully paradoxical, Emery’s circular motif holds multifaceted expression alongside its uncomplicated visual anatomy. The circles are reliably represented; with the artist’s mark-making visible, his technique meditative and observational. Yet, Emery continually embraces disruption with ripping, water pouring, and artistic co-creation all holding a place in his process. Emery’s Caldera captures change, transformation, and diversity within the reliable and familiar, reflecting humanity’s own continuous unpredictability and influence.
