Our family has lived in Ridgefield for the past 24 years. We, as with many other families, moved here primarily for the family-friendly, walkable town and the fantastic schools.
Our daughters (now ages 20 and 24) went through Ridgefield Public Schools from K-12 and are now succeeding in no small part due to their RPS experience.
I joined the Board of Ed after years of turmoil with a revolving door of failed Superintendents interspersed with interim "for hire" Superintendents. Years of lack of leadership brought chaos, and a poor working environment for our teachers and administration, and had the district moving with the whims of a handful of vocal parents. Our kids all suffered.
During my 4 years on the Board, I've made a difference. Our first task was to hire our current Superintendent, who quickly brought us a stable administration. The district is finally writing K-12 curriculum again, with leadership that can draw a clear through line for student achievement. The district has implemented great early interventions to identify individual student supports required, as well as new early literacy and math. The district has implemented new Visual and Performing Arts leadership and the program is flourishing.
I’m running again to ensure that the hard work the Board has done to support the Superintendent and the administration continues and that the District isn’t once again distracted with expensive and ideological vanity projects.
I’m running again to keep the focus on all of our children.
