Ridgefield Police K-9 Loki Gets Protection & Some Love Today!

Today was a special day for Ridgefield Police K-9 Loki. The two year old German Shepherd, partner to Officer Murray, received two checks totaling $1200 from People's United Bank and the Ridgefield Prevention Council. The funds will be used to purchase a protective vest.  "When we go somewhere, he's the first to enter, I always go in second - and he has to be protected," explains Murray.

Loki has assisted in a total of 13 arrests to date. This past winter Loki performed a track and was able to locate a criminal who had buried himself in the snow.  He then located a bag containing approximately 3.5 grams of Cocaine, 25 grams of Marijuana, drug packaging material and a switchblade knife.

Presenting Loki and Officer Murray with the check were representatives from People's United Bank, Anne Houle and Josh Reilly. Karen Facini, a People's United Bank employee and a member of Rigefield Prevention Council, Sue Dighton of Ridgefield Prevention Council, and Ridgefield Police Captain Jeff Kreitz, were also present.
