Pumpkin weighing in 1,767 takes prize at Ridgefield's Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off

Ridgefield’s Annual Giant Pumpkin Weigh Off  took place at Ballard Park today bringing the Ridgefield community together for a wholesome day of family-fun.

The event’s main attractions were tremendous pumpkins, some of which weighed in at more than 1,700 pounds. Pumpkin growers from Connecticut and surrounding states placed their pumpkins side-by-side in hopes of winning the top prize. The winning giant was a 1,767 pound pumpkin belonging to Mr. Ron Wallace (see photo courtesy of Jessica Collins).

The Weigh Off featured music, shopping and farm stands, children’s crafts, games, and a pumpkin carving demonstration. A farm “on wheels” gave kids a close up look at ducks, goats and bunnies.

Odeen’s Memphis BBQ Pit, Zawack Shack and Natural Scoop ice cream were among the local foodie attractions.

Thanks to Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce, Ridgefield Supply Company, and the Connecticut Giant Pumpkin Growers Club for a wonderful day of family-fun!
