High School Student from Ridgefield Launches Digital Magazine, Seeks Staff Members

New Writing Magazine Pen and Ink Looking For Staff Members

Ridgefield resident Mia Scarpati, a freshman at Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, Connecticut, is the brains behind Pen and Ink, a digital magazine with a focus on the creative work of high school students. Scarpati is planning a June launch date for her new literary platform.

"Of the many different writing publications that exist, I have yet to see one that not only features work from high school students but is run by them as well," says Scarpati. "The magazine will include sections such as opinion/essay, poetry, short story, and a miscellaneous section for other types of writing," she adds.

If you are an avid writer and wish that you could be doing more with this passion, now is your chance.

Currently, Pen and Ink is  in need of high school editors, team writers, secretaries, and, Scarpati says, "Most importantly, a website designer to help make up the masthead of the magazine."

If you feel that you would be well suited to fill any of these spots, email Mia: mscarpati26@gmail.com, include your name, contact info, and the position you are interested in. "We will send you the appropriate application, or visit our Facebook page at facebook.com/penandinkwriting/ where more information and applications are also available," says Scarpati.

While Pen and Ink will begin locally, as a strictly online magazine, Scarpati says she hopes to incorporate different towns within Fairfield and Westchester Counties and offer a print publication in the future.

Contact Mia Scarpati if you are interested at mscarpati26@gmail.com.
