Spread Kindness in Ridgefield: Support RYC Community Kindness Mural

The Ridgefield Youth Commission (RYC) is working on a community-wide art project intended to spread kindness in the Ridgefield community and they need your help bringing the project to fruition.

Inspired by the Ridgefield Chorale’s initiative, “Being Kind, Being Human”, RYC is working with students, community groups and local organizations to create a mosaic mural made of clay tiles showing an unwritten message of kindness.

“Spreading kindness among our youth and community members is vital to a healthy, vibrant town and the RYC wishes to add a visual reminder of this message: to advocate against bigotry and to advocate for inclusion,” explains organizer, Denise Qualey.

According to the RYC, larger-than-life, beautiful designs in dynamic colors will radiate from the mosaic tile mural and enhance the outdoor space while making an impactful statement. The mural will be installed on the outside of The Barn Teen Center facing Governor Street, a location approved by the Board of Selectmen, The Boys & Girls Club and the Ridgefield Historical Society.

Qualey says, “The mural will be created in collaboration with Ridgefield students and community members and will be brought to life by professional mural artists Joann and Bruce Hunter, owners of The Art Spot.”

Anyone interested in helping to create the Kindness Mural can contact Jim Yavenditti at jyavenditti@gmail.com. All ages welcome to be part of this special community project.

“Please consider contributing to the RYC’s Imagine Project and make a lasting difference in our community,” says Qualey.
